ENTHRONEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT OF PATRILAR BY THE BAIRRADA WINE LOVERS’ GUILD

Patrilar owns the share capital of Sociedade Agrícola Quatro Cravos, a wine-producing company.
For the company, investing in wine is more than just developing a business activity: it is making a deep commitment to the land, the vineyard and the wine; it is honouring historical memory; and all those who, over generations, have shaped the wine culture that inspires us today.
For us, wine is not just a product, it is identity, it is memory and it is continuity.
In their particular case, this project has deep family roots.

Their great-grandfather, Martinho da Silva Cravo, built a highly important wine-producing house in Bairrada in the early 20th century. However, a significant part of this heritage was lost as a result of personal choices and a carefree lifestyle typical of other times.
With Quatro Cravos, he sought to pick up where he left off, rebuilding what was once passionately dreamed of, to give back to the family and the region the legacy they both deserve.
This journey now takes on a new and special meaning with his appointment as a member of the Confraria dos Enófilos da Bairrada, an organisation that preserves, promotes and dignifies the region’s wine culture.

In his words:
I do not see this distinction as individual merit, but as recognition of an alignment between three dimensions: the history I inherited and which was interrupted, the present I am building, and the responsibility to represent Bairrada with authenticity and excellence. Being a member is not simply about belonging; it is about publicly committing to the region, to the producers, to wine lovers and to future generations.

We couldn’t help but agree with this thought, as we believe that it is cultural recognition that reinforces economic legitimacy.
Because history without economic results is just memory; and results without history are just business. In wine, as in everything that lasts, we need both: the emotion that comes from legacy and the reason that sustains viability and the future.

We conclude with his own words:
If my great-grandfather built a dream and lost it, Quatro Cravos is rebuilding it again, this time with vision, method and responsibility. My entry into the Confraria is proof that history is finally finding its way again.

We are to be congratulated.
